Why should you sell on Facebook?

Option 3: Purchase message

This is the third option for selling your products on Facebook, where customers send direct inquiries to your business through your page. This is probably the most laborious option for a business owner. Orders manually process orders when customers submit requests through the Facebook page.

What you need to use Facebook Shops

Keep in mind that Facebook Shops as a feature is just starting to roll out. Facebook will contact you if it's ready for your store.

To get started in the race, you will need to create a Facebook Page shop. We know we've added a few similar terms at this point, so let's quickly cover those:

  • Facebook Page Shop – Existing Facebook functionality that allows you to display products on your Facebook Business page. When customers click on the products, they are directed to your website.
  • Facebook Shops – New feature that provides a storefront for existing Facebook Page Shops. They provide customers with a more seamless experience and the ability to verify without leaving Facebook if they wish.

To create a Facebook Page shop, you will need to:

  • Be an admin of your business page.
  • Sell ​​a physical product. Facebook does not currently support the sale of downloadable products.

1. Create an account with Facebook Commerce Manager

You may already have an account with Business Manager, but if not, here's how to create one.

Head to Facebook's Commerce Manager and you should see a screen that looks like this:

Start by clicking on Configure for your business information. You'll then be guided through the process of choosing a name for your store, linking your Commerce Manager to an existing page (or creating a new one), and verifying that you have a Commerce Manager account. company.

2. Create a collection

Your products should be grouped into “collections” to get the most out of Facebook Shops. To create a collection, log in to your Commerce Manager and click Create Collection.

For each collection, you will need to add:

  • A collection name. This can be up to 20 characters and include emojis for an extra pinch of fun.
  • A description of the collection. You have 200 characters for this, so make them count! We have a guide to writing good product descriptions that will help you here.
  • Cover the media. In addition to product images for each item, you'll need an image that can act as a "cover" for your collection. It should be at a 4:3 ratio and at a size of 1080 x 810 pixels.

Once you're done, you can add more collections (click Create another collection ) or go to the next step: personalizing your storefront.

3. Personalize your storefront

This is where Facebook Shops come into their own! You have the ability to customize your store by making it look more like “you” and less like “Facebook”.

When you're customizing your store to prepare it for publishing, return to Commerce Manager (if you're not there already). Click Stores and select the Store you want to edit (if you have more than one). Click on Edit.

You will see two tabs in the store you have chosen:

  • Arrangement - this is where you can choose to view collections as presented and add carousels from other collections.
  • Styling- this is where you can adjust colors, button sizes, and text to align the storefront with your brand image.

4. Publish your store

Check how your page will look using shop overview, and when you're happy with everything, click Publish. Facebook will then review and approve your Collections within 24 hours – you can choose whether you'd like them to go live as soon as they're approved, or all at once.

How to set up a Facebook Page Shop

Until Facebook Shops are more widely available, setting up a Shop on the Facebook Page is still your best bet. This way, you can start selling right away and easily log into the Facebook Shops feature once it's available.

We'll walk you through the process of setting up a store for our fictional brand, Finance de Demain. Again, we're assuming here that you already have a business page ready to go. You must also be working from a laptop or desktop computer to set this up.

1. Go to the "Shop" tab on your business page

You'll find it on the left side (you may need to expand the menu to see it).

You will then be prompted to read and agree to Facebook's Merchant Terms and Policies.

2. Fill in tax/payment information or select a payment option.

This is where things start to separate a bit depending on where in the world you are.

3. Add products

Now we're all back on the same track, and whether you're based in the US or elsewhere in the world, you should see a screen similar to this:

To start adding products, press the blue button Add product.

To add a product, you will need product images, a product price, a product description and name, and a link to where the customer can check out (normally the product list on your own website). If you've chosen to sell via Messenger, you won't need to add a link here.

Here's how we filled out ours:

If you want to share the product directly to your page as a post, select this option. It's great for new releases later, but we'll leave that aside for now as we'll be adding all of our existing products at once. When you're done, click Add product .

Your new article will then appear here and you can click on + Add a patented to add more.

4. Organize products into collections

Once you've added your products, you'll want to organize them into collections to make it easier for customers to find what they're looking for. It's up to you how you want to go about it – go with whatever suits your brand!

We will add these two products in a collection « 'T-shirts for men'. You will see the option to add a collection under your new products:

Click on Add collection, And then + Add collection .

Give your collection a name (this will be the name under which it will be displayed in your shop), then add the products concerned:

If you're based outside of the US, you're basically done in terms of logistics. You can continue to add and remove products based on stock levels, and all sales will be done either through Messenger or on your own website (depending on which one you selected at the start).

Even if you are starting to use Messenger for your sales, we recommend that you create a website at some point and switch to this option. We promise it's not as intimidating as it sounds!

5. Manage Orders (US Only)

If you're setting up a Facebook Page store in the US, adding and bundling your products is just the start – you need to know how to manage and deliver incoming orders!

You can manage your orders by going to Publishing Tools (in the top menu)

Next, select Pending Orders from the bottom left menu:

When orders arrive, you will be able to view them here and update the order status as they are shipped:

You can also schedule and view posts in the Posts section. This is useful for organizing posts in advance and checking how well people have engaged with them:

Manage Facebook Shops from an eCommerce Platform

If you have an eCommerce website, we recommend syncing it with your Facebook Shop as soon as possible. This will allow you to control your inventory on both platforms from one place, and push all updates to both stores, cutting your admin time in half.

Integrating Facebook Shops with Shopify

Shopify said if you're already able to use product tags on Instagram, you'll be first to Facebook Shops.
